In case you missed it -- the Way Forward is meeting up for the first…
Ann Cummings of Gun Sense Chester County to speak at our next meeting
Join the Way Forward and Gun Sense Chester County to talk about sensible gun policy in our communities. Ann Cummings of Gun Sense CC will speak at our March 7 meeting (6:30 p.m. start time, at Rose Hall, Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, directions here). Gun Sense Chester County is an organization dedicated to bringing together advocates of gun rights and gun control to explore commonsense gun policy on the basis of shared common ground. Here’s how they describe themselves:
We’re Gun Sense Chester County — an all volunteer, non partisan, non profit organization that’s working to reduce gun violence in the U.S. We aren’t “anti gun.” We recognize there are many responsible gun owners who have legitimate reasons for wanting to own guns. In fact, we have gun owners involved throughout our organization. We learn a lot from them. We also think people who don’t own guns have a right to an opinion on these issues. After all, the presence of guns in our communities affects everyone.
How Do We Move Forward? We believe Common Ground is the Solution™. We bring together people with diverse views and experiences — those who would never own guns and those who enjoy owning them — to explore common ground. Believe it or not, even as you read this, there is existing common ground between those who don’t own guns and those who do on several major gun-related policy areas. Wow. Who knew? Hard to come across that information with all that yelling going on.
So, if you want to:
- Learn about gun violence and gun regulation
- Explore “common ground” paths to more peaceful communities
- Advocate for elected officials to take action
…join us!
We hope you’ll join the Way Forward and Gun Sense CC for thoughtful dialogue on how we keep our communities safe. Dialogue, bridge-building, and getting past all the shouting are big parts of our mission, and we look forward to partnering with Gun Sense CC.
